From the archives - Incredible scenes in Milan with Chelsea's Albert Ferrer (who turns 44 today!) and Andriy Shevchenko back in 1999.

Cena oko 20 mil.

Odlican tekst, jbg nemam vremena da ga prevedem. Why reported Chelsea target Cesc Fabregas could make magic with Nemanja Matic Cesc Fabregas’ dream return to England is quickly becoming a nightmare for Arsenal fans, with latest reports suggesting that Chelsea have snuck ahead in the race to sign a midfielder that Arsenal are believed to have opted against re-signing. With Chelsea in the market for a central midfield player to partner Nemanja Matic, having relied upon a rotating cast last season that have mainly been sold or released this summer, and Fabregas keen on a return to the Premier League, a move would look to make sense. Since returning to the club from Benfica in January, Matic has been a revelation at the heart of Jose Mourinho’s midfield. Slotting into a position that has overwise been filled by an underwhelming combination of David Luiz, Ramires, John Obi Mikel and Frank Lampard, Matic has become first choice and established himself as one of the side’s key players, possessing an ability to get the ball before driving forward from midfield. The final game of the season, against Cardiff City, saw Matic attempt eight tackles, winning four. Clearly the more defensive of a pairing with Fabregas, his bite in the tackle would give the Spaniard a degree of attacking license. Fabregas is by no means the archetypal Spanish attacking midfield player – part of the problem returning to a Barcelona side that almost seemed to view him and his box-to-box tendencies as being a bit broken – but with his attacking flair and Matic’s defensive work the pair would complement each other well. - Numerous players have tried to shoulder the burden of creating from deep for Chelsea this season, but none have managed it. The two pass maps above show the performances of Luiz and Fabregas against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League and La Liga respectively. A world apart, Luiz resorted to pumping the ball forward rather than producing any kind of invention, while Fabregas’ map shows a number of short passes and two chances created. The two side’s respective styles obviously have an impact upon the pair of pass maps, but Luiz’s tendancy to attempt the Hollywood ball at the expense of the cuteness and patience required to unlock many defences proved a large part of his ultimate failure to force his way into Mourinho’s long-term central midfield thinking. The partnership between Matic and Fabregas would appear a balanced one. Matic would nominally be the more defensive of the pair, but also possesses an ability to quickly shift the ball forward that saw him secure four assists in the second half of the season. Equally, Fabregas has made more tackles per 90 minutes played this season than Luiz and would undoubtedly make more in a return to the Premier League and in the central midfield role in which he made his name at Arsenal. Complementing each others games well, Matic has averaged more tackles and clearances this season, while Fabregas’ ability to put his foot on the ball and carve out an opening has seen him make more passes and create more chances. Aaron Ramsey and Yaya Toure have this season shown that a deep-lying central midfielder is not synonymous with unambitious play and Fabregas would give Chelsea more impetus going forward. Despite the Barcelona faithful turning against Fabregas in large numbers, only Lionel Messi created more chances for Barca this season than Fabregas. Of those, 13 were assists. Chelsea have lacked that from central midfield this season, relying upon the attacking quartet to carve out the chances as well as finish them. Luiz and Mikel both managed one assist each, while Lampard gained three largely due to set piece duties and Ramires provided two, making it pretty clear what Chelsea have been lacking.

https://twitter.com/Jack_Gooner49er If Cesc goes to Chelsea I am never watching football again, stabbing myself in the face. blowing myself up and then jumping off a cliff #afc hahahhaha
